Meeting on December 13 to Discuss Makar Sankranti Fair Preparations in Madhuban

Jharkhand Spirit : An emergency meeting of the Makar Sankranti Mela Committee will be held on December 13 at the Makar Sankranti Mela Committee Ground in Madhuban, the renowned Jain pilgrimage centre. The meeting has been convened to discuss and plan the smooth organization of the 2026 Makar Sankranti Fair . During the meeting, members will outline the fair’s roadmap and also deliberate on the reorganization of the committee . Committee president Naresh Mahato has informed all members that the restructuring of the committee will be one of the main agendas on December 13. However, some members have expressed that before the committee is reorganized, the statement of income and expenditure of the previous fair should be presented. They argue that without financial transparency, newly formed office-bearers will face difficulties in taking charge. Five-Day Panchanhika Festival to Begin on December 12 at Sarak Bhavan, Madhuban

Jharkhand Spirit : Madhuban, the renowned Jain pilgrimage site, is set to host the Panchanhika Festival at Sarak Bhavan from December 12. The five-day celebration will primarily mark the birth anniversary (Janma Kalyanak) of Bhagwan Parshvanath. Preparations for the festival have been finalized, and devotees from various regions are expected to participate. The event will commence on December 12 with Bhagwat Darshan and a collective recitation of the Bhaktamar Stotra. Throughout the festival, which will continue until December 16, daily rituals such as Bhagwat Darshan , evening prayers, and aarti will be performed. According to Kajal Sarak, an office bearer of Sarak Bhavan, the festival is being organized to celebrate the auspicious birth of Bhagwan Parshvanath. A special puja will be held on Paush Dashami. The workers—hailing from Giridih and Hazaribagh districts—claim their employer has stopped paying their wages and is not providing proper food or accommodation, leaving them in severe hardship. The stranded workers shared a video message detailing their plight and urgently appealed to the Indian government for help in returning home. They sent the video to social worker Sikandar Ali, who works extensively on migrant labour issues. Jharkhand Spirit, Deepak Mishra : The four-day-long Chhath Mahaparv commenced with great devotion and enthusiasm in Madhuban, Shikharji , on October 25, 2025 , with the traditional ritual of Nahay-Khay (also known as Kaddu-Bhat ). Devotees began the auspicious festival by taking a holy bath and preparing the special meal of kaddu-bhat , marking the beginning of the sacred observance dedicated to Surya Dev (the Sun God) and Chhathi Maiya . As the festival progresses, devotees will observe Kharna on the second day, followed by the evening Arghya to the setting sun on the third day, and conclude the celebration with the morning Arghya to the rising sun on the fourth day. The cleaning and beautification work at the Chhath Ghat is being carried out on a war footing to ensure a smooth celebration. According to the Chhath Puja Committee , a detailed strategy has been prepared for the cleaning and decoration of the ghat, and work is progressing as per the plan. The river is being cleaned using JCB machines , while workers are engaged in cleaning not only the ghat area but also the approach roads leading to it. Every year, in addition to the Chhath Ghat, the main road from Madhuban to the ghat is thoroughly cleaned to ensure that devotees offering arghya (holy offerings to the Sun God) face no inconvenience during the festival. Dashrath, son of Mangar Mahato , had gone abroad with dreams of better employment, but now finds himself battling for survival. In a video shared on social media, Dashrath has made an emotional appeal to both the central and state governments of India for immediate assistance. He revealed that on September 6, 2025 , he sustained a serious eye injury while working for Shaanxi Construction Engineering Group Company in Dubai. Since the incident, the company has neither provided him medical treatment nor paid his salary , leaving him in a desperate situation.
