Four-Day Long Chhath Mahaparv Begins with ‘Nahay-Khay’ in Madhuban, Shikharji
Jharkhand Spirit, Deepak Mishra : The four-day-long Chhath Mahaparv commenced with great devotion and enthusiasm in Madhuban, Shikharji, on October 25, 2025, with the traditional ritual of Nahay-Khay (also known as Kaddu-Bhat).
Devotees began the auspicious festival by taking a holy bath and preparing the special meal of kaddu-bhat, marking the beginning of the sacred observance dedicated to Surya Dev (the Sun God) and Chhathi Maiya.
As the festival progresses, devotees will observe Kharna on the second day, followed by the evening Arghya to the setting sun on the third day, and conclude the celebration with the morning Arghya to the rising sun on the fourth day.
In Madhuban, elaborate arrangements have been made at the Chhath Ghat to ensure a safe and serene atmosphere for worshippers. The Chhath Puja Committee has also organized cleanliness drives, beautification work, and decorative gateways along the routes leading to the ghat.
The entire town of Madhuban, Shikharji, is immersed in devotion as chants, rituals, and the spirit of faith fill the air, marking the beginning of this grand festival of purity, discipline, and reverence.
