Mobile Addiction: A Growing Threat to Children

Image
Symbolic photo Jharkhand Spirit, Deepak Mishra :  Recently, I witnessed something that left me deeply concerned. A five-year-old girl from my relative’s family had been watching videos on a mobile phone for almost four continuous hours. What surprised me even more was that her parents did not say a single word to stop her or even try to interrupt her. When it was time for her to go to school, she began making excuses and refused to go. After having lunch, instead of studying or playing, she once again picked up the mobile and started watching reels endlessly. An old lady of the house, noticing all this, softly remarked that this habit could spoil the child and that it was not good for her future. To my surprise, instead of understanding the concern, the parents defended their child, saying, “She is a modern-era baby and is learning a lot of things from mobile.” I chose to remain silent at that moment because I knew they wouldn’t understand what is truly happening. But deep insi...

“IGNOU Dispatch Update: Study Materials Reaching Students”

Image
Recently, I received the study material for my MHD Program (Second Year) from IGNOU. I am glad the books reached on time, giving me ample opportunity to read and analyze each chapter at my own pace. The style of writing and language used in these materials is simple and clear, making it easy for learners to grasp the concepts through self-study. In fact, one hardly feels the need for a teacher or mentor—though of course, constant practice is essential for true understanding. I am also happy to share that IGNOU has started dispatching study materials to its learners by post. So, if you haven’t received yours yet, don’t worry—be patient, your books will arrive soon according to your registered program. For me, receiving these books felt like the beginning of a new academic journey with IGNOU. They are not just study guides, but stepping stones that will help us prepare, grow, and achieve our goals. With proper planning and consistency, I believe we can all make the most of them. ...
